Did you know Aztec and Mayan civilizations invented popcorn?

How many inventions do you know of that actually came from BAME communities? Well, if you’re anything like me the answer would be a handful. To help you learn about how integral BAME community’s discoveries have been to our modern society, here’s a list of some of the greatest Aztec and Mayan inventions we still use today according to Dr Caroline Pennock, a senior lecturer in international history at the University of Sheffield and a historian of the Aztec Meshika world.

Bridgerton Season 2: Flipping the Script on South Asian Stereotypes

From acerbic aunties with thick accents to geeks with no sex appeal, South Asians in Hollywood have been known to play either of the two and maybe the occasional cab driver. But not very often does a tanned skin South Asian beauty get to take centre stage and have a main character moment like Kate Sharma on Bridgerton. Watching the unapologetically Brown lead single-handedly squash stereotypes about South Asian culture made me wish I had seen more representation and inclusion of my culture in Hollywood as a teenager so I could have spared myself some of the internalized prejudice and self-loathing.
